Website terms of use

The terms for using this website, including your Candor account page. Payment processing for merchants on Candor is provided by Stripe, as set out below.

Last updated: November 1, 2026, for opening an account online. On October 26 we added invoices, subscriptions, the store checkout and the API.

About this site

candorpayments.com is run by Candor Payments. It describes our services, publishes our prices and rules, and lets businesses open an account. Using the site means you accept these terms.

Opening an account

You can open a Candor account on this site with an email address you can receive codes at. Opening one creates your Candor account and a connected account at Stripe once you tap to agree to Candor's merchant rules, your price and the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. It doesn't guarantee that you can take payments: Stripe has to verify your business first, and Candor reviews every new account and may close one that doesn't meet the merchant rules, telling you why.

Payments on Candor

Payment processing services for merchants on Candor Payments are provided by Stripe and are subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which includes the Stripe Terms of Service (collectively, the "Stripe Services Agreement"). By agreeing to these terms, or to Candor's merchant rules on your Candor account page, or by continuing to operate as a merchant on Candor Payments, you agree to be bound by the Stripe Services Agreement, as the same might be modified by Stripe from time to time. As a condition of Candor Payments enabling payment processing services through Stripe, you agree to provide Candor Payments accurate and complete information about you and your business, and you authorize Candor Payments to share it and transaction information related to your use of the payment processing services provided by Stripe.

Candor's fee on each payment is taken from that payment before it reaches your Stripe balance. Stripe's banks, and how to contact them, are listed in Stripe's acquirer disclosure.

Invoices, subscriptions, the store checkout and the API

These run on your own Stripe account, under the Stripe Services Agreement and Candor's merchant rules, at the prices on your Candor account page.

Emails to your customers. When you send an invoice or offer a subscription plan, we email your customers for you: reminders before and after an invoice's due date, a reminder before a free trial ends and before each yearly renewal, and a note when a renewal payment fails or a subscription ends. They come from your business's name, via Candor, and replies go to you. You're responsible for your plans' prices, trial and renewal terms and cancellation being clear to your customers, and for following the laws on automatic renewals where they live.

Your API key and signing secret. Keep them on your own server. Anyone with your key can create checkouts, payment links, invoices and plans on your account, and cancel subscriptions, so requests made with it are your responsibility until you make a new key or turn the API off on your Candor account page. We may turn off a key that's being misused, and we limit how many requests the API takes.

Webhooks. We send your account's events to the address you give us, and try again for 3 days if your server doesn't answer. The API and webhooks can occasionally be unavailable, so check your Candor dashboard for anything that matters.

Prices and rules on this site

We publish our prices and rules so you can see them before you apply. Your Candor account page shows the price that applies to you, and what you agree to there wins if it differs from this site. We give 30 days' written notice before changing your prices.

Calculators, examples and the dashboard preview

The calculators give estimates from the numbers you enter and from published card-network rates. Examples and the dashboard preview use sample data for a made-up business. None of them is a quote, and your real costs depend on the cards your customers use.

The AI assistant

The chat assistant is an AI. It answers from this website's pages and works out example fees with the same math as our calculators, and it can still make mistakes. Its answers are general information: not a quote, not an approval, and not legal, tax or financial advice. They don't change our published prices or rules, or what you've agreed to as a merchant. For anything that matters, check the page it links to or ask the team. Don't use the chat to send anyone else's personal information, card or bank numbers, or anything unlawful, or try to make it do something it isn't for.

Information, not advice

Our guides explain how card payments work in general. They aren't legal, tax or financial advice. Rules and rates change, so check anything important with the source we link or with a professional.

Using the site

  • Give accurate information on our forms.
  • Don't try to break, overload or get around the site's security.
  • Don't use the site to send anything unlawful or anyone else's personal information without permission.

We link to other companies' pages, such as card-network documents and competitors' pricing pages, so you can check our sources. We don't control those sites, and their content may change after we read it.

Our responsibility

We work to keep the site accurate and available, but we provide it as it is. To the extent the law allows, Candor Payments isn't liable for losses that come from using the site or relying on its general information. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law that can't be limited.
